This Alexandria koi pond build is moving fast - and we're at the best part. The large boulder placement is done, the liner is down, and the rock work is really starting to take shape. When a build gets to this stage, you can finally start to see the finished space in your mind. That's always a good feeling.
Getting the boulders set is honestly one of the most physically demanding parts of the whole process. These aren't small rocks. Moving and placing stones of this size takes the right equipment and a crew that knows what they're doing. We had our compact track loader on site, which is what makes precise placement of heavy material possible without tearing up the surrounding yard.
The rock layout here is intentional. Each stone is placed to create a natural-looking shelf and edge system around the pond basin. That structure isn't just for looks - it holds the liner in place, creates stable zones for water flow, and gives the koi the kind of environment they actually thrive in. There's a lot of thought that goes into what might look like a pile of rocks from the outside.
We're in the home stretch now. The basin, the liner, the filtration box, the rock work - it's all coming together. What was a flat backyard a short time ago is turning into exactly the water feature this homeowner had in mind. We'll have the final reveal up soon.
